Things to do

There is a wealth of things to do in and around Marrakech.

The countryside and towns near the villa are not remotely touristic. There are villages which haven’t changed much in 100 years, where donkey and cart remains the favoured transport. There is a fascinating local market on Saturdays, and fruit and tagine stalls within a five minute drive.

Marrakech is gaining something of a reputation as a major sports and activities destination. There are three renowned horse riding centres minutes from Apple Gardens. Quod biking, hot air ballooning, mountaineering and hiking are all available locally. Further afield, you can arrange camel safaris and even surfing!  There are three major golf courses near Apple Gardens.

There are also plenty of places for a half day trip, or longer, into the Ourika Valley, the Atlas Mountains, a nearby waterfall, the seaside towns of Essaouira and Oualida, or as part of a multi-centre trip, which could include the major cities in the North of a beach resort. A four night trip into the Sahara Desert is very popular. Full information on options will be provided, and the villa is well equipped with maps, book and guides.

If you would rather not drive, we can arrange a personal driver and transfers, as well as personal guide for your visits to the Souk and old town.

Marrakech is a popular spa destination and “hammams” exist everywhere. A hammam remains the bath house for many locals and a place to gather socially.

There are a number of spas and hammams that we would recommend in the centre of town, and you will pass several inexpensive options on the way to Apple Gardens.

For a real treat, we particular recommend Le Palais Rhoul, in the nearby Palmerie. It is a sensational, quiet hotel with a superb spa.  When having treatments, you can to spend the day enjoying the gardens and pool, and the excellent food.
